Further details can be found on the Doncaster Rowing Club website.

12 February Umpire Training. Umpire Training.

We are training over Feb, Mar, starting on 12 February. Details will be circulated to anyone interested in coming along.

There will be ~6 sessions at YCRC, and attendance is on an as-you-can-make-it basis.

If you are interested, a good first step is to read the current year's rules of racing (BR website): training will cover these rules, changes coming in in 2017, and the practicalities of applying rules in racing scenarios. It is fun, not academic: a chance to share rowing anecdotes and work out what (should have) happened in real regattas!

Trainees who have a good understanding of the rules by April, and attend the regional seminar, you will be able to umpire under supervision at York and Bradford regattas (4 events) and, potentially, at regattas elsewhere in the country. Final assessment will be in September/October.

Everyone (all ages and standards) are more than welcome!

Fiona Polack, Regional Umpiring Chair
Emma Levison, Regional Umpiring Secretary
