Our aim is to "improve the standard and quality of coaching & rowing in the Region."
To achieve this we:

  • Run regular coaching courses.
  • Organise training days.
  • Provide funding towards the cost of courses

Coaching Grants

Coaching Grants.

The Yorkshire Rowing Council provides funding to educate coaches, who coach British Rowing registered rowers in the wider Yorkshire Region.

The grant is up to 1/3 of the cost of the course, up to a maximum of £250 and must be matched by your club.

Grant applications must be submitted BEFORE the start of the course.

There is a strong line up of GB Coaches from all squads and groups who will be discussing a host of subjects which will be interesting for coaches across all types of athletes of any age.

Some of those in the line up include Nick Baker and La wrence Whiteley from the Paralympic Squad talking about their experiences as both coach and athlete, James Harris who coached the Women's Eight at Rio talking about his experiences of integrating rowers of different abilities into one boat (for university coaches, prior to coaching for GB, James spent a lot of time coaching university crews at a variety of levels and improving the performance of many of the crews he worked with so his insight into developing crews is huge).

The Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rowing is the first award for coaching individuals on the water. It is aimed at beginner coaches.
